Austin Java is the city’s original coffee house and an easy-going hub for anyone to hang out at. The oldest cafe also tends to skew towards an older clientele, but seeing as it’s close to campus you’ll still find students studying late into the night. The coffee is 100% organic and roasted in a low-emission roaster that’s powered by biofuel, so both your conscious and your tastebuds will feel good. Austin Java is hyper-local, and they have an extensive food menu featuring salads, sandwiches, and pastas made with local ingredients and planet-friendly products.

The cozy atmosphere makes it an inviting place to come in and stay for a while, whether you want coffee or beer. The cafe has been around forever, and while it turns over frequently, no one will look at you weird if you want to stay all day. They also offer amazing specials and entertainment every day, like live comedy on Saturday nights, 2 for 1 burgers on Monday nights, $2 beer all day on Thursdays, and mimosa brunches on the weekends.
