If you like your hipster coffee with a side of high performance sports gel, you’re going to love it here. Nestled in Lance Armstrong’s bike shop Mellow Johnny’s, Juan Pelota was the first cafe in Austin selected to brew Portland’s infamous Stumptown Coffee. Cycling scandals aside, you’ll find Stumptown die-hards here, along with a vibrant mix of downtown residents and fixed-gear junkies. If you’re here on a day Hair Bender is brewing, be warned: this baby will have you going all night long.

The cafe is definitely more of a daytime spot for the downtown crowd, and they close relatively early. While you’re visiting, you might as well rent a bike for the day, get your espresso to go, and explore the best of Austin on two wheels. If you’re more keen to stay (or drive), you can chill out on the sunny patio with your puppy and a breakfast taco. Ironically, they offer free parking too.
